Midwives of Kansas City is a new practice for 2010 combining Suzanne Ryan Midwifery Services, Mama Sara Doula Services, and Awakened Birthing Services. We have three Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM): Suzanne Ryan CNM of Leavenworth, KS, Lisa Matthes of Lee's Summit, MO and Shari Stone-Ulrich of St. Joseph, MO. Sarah Wallbaum, a doula/birth assistant and CPM student, is also an important part of our group specializing in nutritional care. As CNM's, we are licensed in the State's of Kansas and Missouri as RNs and CNMs, have DEA prescription authority if meds are needed, can offer ultrasounds, labs, and visit in your home for all prenatal visits, delivery, and postpartum care at 2 days, 2 weeks and 6 weeks. We only do homebirths and have a collaborating OB if you need a transfer. We believe pregnancy is normal and not a medical illness. We offer a free inital consultation to discuss how we can make your next birth your best birth as 90% of our births are done in water with your partner being the first person to catch your little one! Suzanne delivered my second child in 2007 at our home. I have since recommended her to several friends and my sister in law. She has expertly and safely delivered two children into our family and will be delivering two more in March for friends. I wouldn't want anyone but her at my side and am completely confident in her ability to care for the friends and family I send her way. To whomever might be reading this, look no further. I have met with many of midwives and know what is out there. There are some really great ones and Suzanne is one of them. She really DID do it my way! For such an important event in ones life, Suzanne is one who can be trusted with the knowledge, professionalism, and the personal care needed! So you can just go ahead and relax, get excited about the baby coming, take care of yourself, and know Suz will "deliver"!!! :)

This was my first time going with a midwife, and I choice susanne because she deffently was experienced and new what she was doning. I choice to go with susanne was she was such a caring and down to earth person. I want to feel comfortable with the person who is going to be in such a special time of my life. Susanne took exceptional care of me throughout my pregnacy and still is . She is not only a faboulus midwife but also a great friend now to me and our family.

I recently had baby number 2 with the help of Suzanne, and she delivered both of my babies. Suzanne made everything easy, coming to my house for appts and was always easy to reach by phone. During both deliveries, Suzanne was there every step of the way keeping me and the baby's best interest in mind. Suzanne is excellent at her job and I would highly recommend Suzanne Ryan to anyone looking for a midwife.

I am expecting baby #2 and have been seeing Suzanne my entire pregnancy. I am planning a home birth and Suzanne has been very supportive of all of our ideas and concerns. My husband wasn't quite sure about the home birth idea but as he's gotten to know Suzanne, he's completely comfortable with the idea now. Suzanne is patient, caring and knowledgeable regarding all aspects of pregnancy and I would recommend her highly to anyone interested in finding a midwife who truly cares about her clients.

We had Suzann deliver our 2nd baby just a couple weeks ago, and my husband and I were extremely happy with the care we received. I could not imagine having anyone else deliver my first child than Suzanne. She is a wonderful Midwife and lady who is extremely caring and patient. Suzanne is compassionate, knowledgeable, professional and easy-going. She was my midwife for the delivery of my second son, which was a VBAC. My husband and I completely trusted her and it was a beautiful victory for our family. We are now expecting our third son and Suzanne, again, is our midwife. Because we have complete confidence in her, we are going to try a home birth this time. I will continue to "sing her praises" and refer her to any of my expecting friends.

I've attended births as a doula with Suzanne Ryan and absolutely loved her as a midwife! She's very laid back, patient and easy to work with, yet also very well prepared, professional and experienced! She is very willing to work with the client's wishes and let them have the birth they want, as much as possible without compromising the safety of mom or baby. I'd recommend her to anyone wanting a more natural birth - whether at home or in a hospital.

Both my husband and I have been very pleased thus far with the care that Suzanne has provided not only to me, but to our family as a whole. My pregnancy has not gone as planned and Suzanne has been a wonderful support. Both my husband and I love the control that we have over our pregnancy, ie. what tests are performed and when. Suzanne was my midwife for the birth of my 2nd son...she was wonderful! She made us feel very at ease with all of her knowledge and expertise. As a birth doula I have had the privilege to work with Suzanne Ryan. I have work with several OB doctors and I would recommend Suzanne before any OB I have worked with.
